Burn .m2ts question

I'm surprised Sony doesn't provide a Burn-to-AVCHD function -- given they are one of the co-inventors of AVCHD.

After rendering what would seem to be a proper AVCHD .m2ts file (18Mbps VBR AVC with 5.1 or 2/0 AC3) -- is there a folder structure it must be placed in before burning to a DVD?

Is there a program that does this without recompression?

I believe that VMS Plat 9 does have this ability, by burning Blu-Rays. The kind of Blu-Ray they burn on plain DVD disks is the AVCHD kind. So you never really see the files and stuff, you can't export to it, you just tell vegas to burn the BD for you.

Strictly speaking, an AVCHD disc is NOT a BD. It is a DVD-+R.

And, AVCHD discs use EITHER AC3 2/0 or 3/2 or stereo PCM.

Since Sony does support AC3 that routes gone. And, we already know 5.1 LPCM is a not useable.

One again, MovieFactory is the solution.

Vegas Moviestudio 9a Platinum, Vegas Pro 8 but also the DVDA5 creates only 002-BDMV-Structures, that are designed for BD-Rs. You cannot create a 001-BDMV-DVD (=AVCHD-DVD) with Sony products (also Encore CS3 cannot do so).

What you can try is to burn a 002-BDMV structur to a DVD, but it will depend on your Blu Ray player, if that will work. The PS3 does not accept such discs, other players like my Samsung 1400 does (if you use mpeg2-HD there are limitations in the data rate).

And yes, the Ulead Moviefactory 6+ can do so, you are right.
