Successfully burned a Verbatim DVD+R 2.4x dual-layer disc in DVD-A3A. Put 52.3 gig avi into DVD-A then set to fit to 8.5gig disc at 4.25 meg bitrate. Added one chapter at the beginning. After preparation was completed went to burn and menu popped up saying that you must put a marker between 1hr 57 min and 2 hr 5 min so went back and put in chapter 2 at 2 hr point. Also added chaptrer2 button. Then went to burn and disc speed said 6x but it was a 2.4x disc so set it to 2.4x and everything burned ok. Played in Power DVD and in my LG set top player. Also set option in Master menu for 2 layer discs. I can't believe it actually worked.

interesting that DVDA asked u to insert a chapter point at that region, it seems that DVDA will use that as a layer break point.. which is a friggin awesome idea and saves the hassle of sizing the media to conform to the DL spec..

cant wait to give it a go :)

Just one question: Why did you do the rendering in DVDA? I always try to avoid that because of the limited render settings in DVDA. Or was that just to make use of the fit-to-disc feature?

That's correct. I already rendered 3 discs thru Vegas and I wanted to try and see how it would come out on dual layer reduced bitrate and the quality, which wasn't too bad.
