Ummmmmm ... delete the parts you don't want?

each of the three mp3's I imported are individual mp3 files so although I have marked each track individually, when i try to delete the parts I don't want, it simply delets the entire mp3 file that I am trying to dissect.

Place the cursor at the point where you want to trim the file and press S to split. You can then delete the part you've split off.

Another handy option is to drag the end (or beginning, if you're trimming the start) of the clip to that point.

Add 2 seconds of time (Insert->Time) between your splits and you're ready to have VMS automatically lay out your CD. Go to Help and search for "red book burning." (Disc-at-once burning appeared in VMS 8, I believe.)
