Burning DVD with Other burning software

I cant burn multiple DVD's back to back with DVDA1 or 2. It's that whacked Vegas vs. Sony DRU500A thing.
SO on a whim, i took both TS folders and put them my DVD/CD writing software. I made it a 'Data' DVD. It seems to be working just fine and my Sony DVD Burner behaves exactly as it should.

My question:
Is there any difference in using DVDA vs Sonic or anyother DVD writing software? Compatibility issues? Any worries at all? Will the DVDA2 Burnt disks behave differently than one written by another program? Faster menus? Or is it all the same?

It seems to be a short term solution till sony fixes the bug. Just want to make sure i am not taking giant leaps backwards.

In all liklihood, the discs you burn with some other software will be more compatible than if you burned them with DVDA. DVDA's burning component seems to be...not so good.

But I wouldn't expect faster menus.

Yes, you can burn with other software and most people on this forum have reported they do.

The big thing is you risk compatibility with other players if your burning app doesn't get it exactly right. I've used Roxio ECDC6, Roxio EMC7, and am now trying Nero thanks to johnmeyer's suggestions. There are some subtle differences (sorted filenames or folders, for example) that work with some players and not with others. (Roxio writes the disc and then sorts the filenames when writing the project file - that took a while to figure out why my master worked and the copies didn't!!!!)

If you are trying to add extra folders to your DVDs, see my post:

Definitely burn with something other than DVDA. It is nothing but problems, is much slower for short DVDs (because it takes forever to burn the leadout), doesn't do as good a job for multiple copies (cumbersome interface), and doesn't let you burn "extra" folders.

I don't have any hard evidence whether DVDA makes disks that are more compatible or less compatible than Roxio or Nero. I feel VERY comfortable burning with Nero and until Sony fixes the resource hogging problems in DVDA (I can't do anything in other programs while DVDA is preparing or burning because the disk drive is "taken over" by DVDA), I will only use it for the minumum.
