Tools - Scripting - Add Timecode to All Media.
This adds it at the event level (even with events already on your timeline) and will show source timecode, not timeline timecode.

In theory this should work, but all depends on the source codec, camera setup, and recording mechanism - be it card, SSD or harddrive, or even back in the day tape.

You may want to look at Vegasaur for more control.

I think there was a recent thread about the same matter and I did some test with different footage. HDV from my Z5U works but nothing from my AX100 works.

As videoITguy mentioned, it seems to be very source dependent.
