Burning Lead-Out Phase Lasting More Than 30 Minutes - HELP!

I am using Ritek +RW media for a DVD Architect burn (new to my burner). This is the practice run for review - the project will be burned to +R later today. I have burned one practice run (another project) to this same +RW disk and it went OK. However, the first project was a menu project with one movie, while the current project is a menu project with 4 movies. The current burn went fine up until burning lead-out. This last bit (about the last 3%) took more than 30 minutes, and it has been at 100% for more than 15 minutes now, still "working". Can anyone tell me what is probably going on? Should I simply abandon this and start all over with a new disk?

Yes. It is not working properly. Thats one of the reasons I stopped using the RW stuff. Wild guess is to upgrade your firmware or try to erase everything and even then it might not erase and the disc might be junk. Since I have no problems with the -R discs the -RW's are stacked in a pile on my shelf. My biggest problem was they would not finish the erasing. So I got fed up and junked em. This is with Prassi and Nero.

JJKizak, thanks for sharing your experience. I took your advice and here's the next chapter.

I cancelled the burn and did it all over with a Ritek +R printable disk (to put through my EZ/CD Printer Plus). The burn went off without a hitch, but the disk will not load in either of 2 DVD players I have for testing. This is a big disappointment. My burner is supposed to do fine with the Ritek products. I purchased from Meritline in bulk. However, the disks do not have Ritek printed on them anywhere. Does anyone know if all Riteks are supposed to have the "Ritek" name on them somewhere? Maybe Meritline sold me some low quality blank media? I have not had problems with other disks lately. Any comments would be much appreciated.

Just burned again using a Verbatim from my old stack that was working. Same failure. Oh no, my burner must have crashed!!!!

Would still like to hear if Riteks should come with name on them. Thanks again.

Yes, the discs I have have the Ritek name on the clear part of the hub.

I would check to see if there is a firmware update first before you throw anything out. Also what are you burning with, DVDA,? Nero? Maybe you need updated drivers for the stuff.

Ritek is a highly-regarded disk manufacturer in Taiwan. They produce disks in several flavors, but the "manufacturer ID" (obtained in various ways with software) is what is used to positively identify the manufacturer. The Ritek G04 blanks I have say "Ridata" on the hub.
