burning on a dvd-rw

i m new to dvd burning, just bought a pioneer A05 dvd writer. can i burn a mpeg-2 file on a dvd-rw and preview on a dvd player?

Yes. Generally. That needs to be qualifed yes since some DVD players that play commericail DVD's fine, they can not and do not play what I refer to as 'home brew' DVD's, ie the kind you make. Commericial DVD's aren't 'burned' they are pressed.
