From what I see - you have ATI video card?. Look like the dvd program from ATI interfere with burning cd. If you running win98 consider upgrade the ATAPI driver. Upgrade directx to at least v8.( I have v9).

Although I don't see any reference to an ATI video card, make sure you have the latest drivers for whatever card you have. Also check with Aopen and see if there is any newer firmware upgrade for your drive. I've fixed a couple of problems by flashing the firmware on a number of different drives.

Actually, the problem has nothing to do with a video card. ATAPI stands for
'Advanced Technology Attachment Packet Interface' and it is the standard for IDE drives.

Usually a 'medium sense error' occurs with cheap and inexpensive media. I have tried dozens
of CD-R brands and found when I use Ritek/K Hypermedia discs, I usually get the same errors.

However, I would try the following:

1. (As mentioned) Make sure that the firmware for your drive is the latest.
2. If you are using an AMD processor with a Via Chipset, make sure that you have the
latest 4-in-1 drivers installed.
3. Try CD-R media from companies like Sony, Verbatim, Maxell and Imation.

Good Luck!
