Burning to a Blu-ray disc to play on PS3

I've tried to burn my project to a Blu-ray disc that will play on my Sony PS3 time and time again. Every attempt will not play on a PS3 but will play on non Sony Blu-ray players. I am using DVD Architect Studio 5.0 build 128. I can successfully burn the project made in Vegas, sent to Architect, to a DVD disc but not a Blu-ray disc. I've tried rendering the project in Vegas as an mpeg-2 and Sony AVC then building it in Architect. I tried directly rendering and buring directly via Vegas Studio HD Platinum 11 @ Sony AVC/MVC, Blu-ray 1920x1080-60i, 16Mbps, Sony Wave64, 48,000 Hz, 16Bit, 5.1, PCM without success. I'm very frustrated as to why a Sony software product can't make a Blu-ray disc that will play on a Sony PS3????

I read somewhere some time ago that later firmware for PS3 lost the ability to play AVCHD discs, but I don't know about Blu-ray. Does your PS3 play commercial Blu-ray discs? I don't own one so really can't help. If you get no joy here, I suggest you try PS3 forums to learn more about PS3 capabilities.

Yep works with every commercial Blu-ray disc I've ever tried.... Comparing the commercial and Architect/Vegas produced discs, they look pretty much the same as far as format and files. There's lots of info on how to burn AVCHD to a regular DVD disc, but no Blu-ray help. Is there anyone who is successful burning to Blu-ray and playing on the PS3?

I don't have a PS3 or any PS3 experience, but have you tried burning an MP4 file?

I had no problems creating them and playing them on PS3 with DVD Architect PRO 5.2 until today. It plays, no problem, however, now, the video and audio are out of sync. I believe it's a compression or bit rate problem. I will be calling tech support in the morning.

I too have been successfull burning a DVD (non Blu-ray disc) via Architect and playing on a PS3..... If you have burned to a Blu-ray disc that played on a PS3 with success, please please please tell us the proceedure or render/burn settings in accomplishing this. Thanks

Sometimes Sony products can be a little touchy with home-burned discs. Even discs that work fine on many disc players can choke a PS3.

You best put the odds in your favor by:
1) Using a quality brand disc like Verbatim or Tayo Yuden and avoiding store brands or, worst of all, Memorex.
2) Setting your burning speed for BluRays to no faster than 16x. The slower your burn your disc, the cleaner the burn.

I'm with you Steve. I've tried both of your recommendations. I sat through long slow burning times and tried both Verbatim and Optical Quantum discs to no avail.... I just tried a long shot using Multiavchd to create an image on my hard drive and Imgburn to burn the bluray disc. No joy. Before I invest any more time and effort trying to get my PS3 to work, I'm going to try my already produced discs in other players and see the results... Mercy....

Technically DVDA meets the file format specifications for PS3 laid out by Sony: http://us.playstation.com/support/answer/index.htm?a_id=361, thus the DVDA developers have met their obligation and are done. Bar any live testing..... Right now I can burn a Blu-ray disc that plays flawlessly in a Samsung Blu-ray player so this will be my focus and I can get back to exploring the finer points of video editing and production. Thanks

Final word. I purchased a Samsung Blu-ray player BD-D6700 and it plays my burned Blu-ray projects flawlessly including the menu I created in DVDA. Nice...
