Burning VCD

I am trying to burn to a CD. Everything seems to work OK until I view the final product on a Toshiba SD-2800. The video is very jumpy with a lot of "stop-and-goes" (sorry about the non-tech jargon). I have a completely defragged hard drive and have tried to record at slower speeds. Nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
TomG

The jumpy video is due to the Toshiba Player decoding chipset.
Try playing off on other DVD Player.
What's the Video bitrate of your CVD?.

Toshiba is 192 KHrz; 24 Bit

VCD is 29.97 fps, 352x240

TomG,
Not clear if you are creating an SVCD or VCD.
VCD uses MPEG1 and SVCD uses MPEG2. MPEG2 files will be roughly twice as large but will look noticably better. The main issue is that the "stretch video to fill output frame size" box needs to be ticked in the 'Render As' dialogue. This is not selected in the normal VCD templates. See if this helps.

For encoding to SVCD, see http://www.sonicfoundry.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=110318&Replies=6&Page=2 and http://www.sonicfoundry.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=106772

Thanks, MR.

I was creating a VCD since my Toshiba doesn't support SVCD. I'll try what you suggest. I understand there is a big difference between MPEG1 & 2 (quaility-wise). Maybe I should just invest in DVD and not fool with VCD?
