I have the following observations/comments about the metering in Vegas Pro Beta 1 & 2:
The Help file indicates that the bus faders and their meters indicate the actual levels that are
being fed to the output device, but isn't the bus fader actually controlling the levels BEFORE the
signal passes throught any FX assigned to that bus? I say this because if you have the
compressor assigned to a bus, and you lower the fader on the bus, the input to the compressor
drops accordingly.
How does one monitor the actual output???
The metering level of the compressor's Output Gain do not appear to match the actual output
levels of the effect. They seem to be off by at least 3dB. Is the Output Gain meter supposed
to show the actual output of the compressor plug-in??? This I tested by observing the peak
levels durring playback, with the compressor being the last effect in the chain. I then did a Mix
To New Track, but the levels in the mixed down track were far lower than the observed peaks in
the compressor.
