Bus solo not working...

I not only do video work but also have a recording studio and do music production. I do my tracking on an Alesis HD24 digital HD recorder and transfer the tracks to my PC for mixing. Vegas has always been a great pro DAW for working with audio.....but.....not so much anymore.

Problem is...when you solo a bus, it solos the bus from the other buses...but not from any other tracks in the main track view. In other words...if a track is not sent to a bus...it will not be muted when you solo a bus.

Bus soloing works perfect in Vegas 8.0c ...but has not worked right since I upgraded to Pro 11, and I am up to date with all the updates. None of the updates have touched on the bug.

For most people it probably wouldn't be a big deal...but for someone who does pro audio mixing, it is a pretty important function.

I still use Vegas Pro 11 for all my video work...but have since purchased Cakewalk X1 Producer for doing audio mixing simply because bus soloing WORKS...and it also seems more stable with 3rd party plugins.

I still would like to use Vegas for pro audio work...but until this simple bug gets fixed...I will have to continue using Sonar. Sony....please fix this bug...!

"Sony....please fix this bug"

They're not going to fix it unless they know about it and this isn't the place to inform them of it. You need to lodge an official bug report with tech support.

I'm not defending the bug, but for audio work, why don't you continue using the Vegas version which worked for you?

Are you sure it isn't working correctly now?

Why would you expect tracks not associated with a bus to respect the solo function of that bus? I haven't worked with many hardware mixers, but this does sound like the way they work. When you solo a bus, it is the only live bus routing to the output.

Actually...I did report it to Sony....and still nothing.

Peter, I know that I could keep using 8.0c for audio work...but I would at least like to know why they changed it. Maybe Sony doesn't see it as a bug.

Steve...I have worked with hardware mixers for over 30 years. I have a Mackie 32x8 in my studio and it reacts to a solo button like any other mixer should. When you press a solo button...it should play ONLY what is related to that track or bus, and mute everything else.

You are correct in the fact that when you solo a bus in ver. 11 it is the only live "bus" routing to the output. BUT...any track in the track pane which isn't routed to a bus should mute. In other words...it does solo the bus from other buses....but not from individual tracks in the track pane.
