Button Highlights - Postition Shift

Just learning the ropes with DVDA...

I have a menu with some simple buttons (from graphic files). They're set to have a white 50% opacity overlay when selected and look fine in the preview. However, when the disc is rendered all the selected, activated etc behaviours are shifted about 10-20 pixels over to the right so that they no longer overlay the actual button.

I've seen something like this in other DVD authoring software, but can't find the fix in DVDA. Back then it was due to the project using 704×576 video, so I'm assuming this might be the case now.

The menu background is actually a 720×576 file so I'm wondering if this is throwing the positioning out of whack. Anyone know what'll happen if I make the menu background 704 wide? Also, is it possible to set the menus to full D1 but use 704×576 video?

Thanks!

Strange. I've also heard of it happening with a 704 width, but never a 720 width. Perhaps check your project properties to be sure it's set to the same width as your menu background. Also go to Optimize DVD and be sure your menu width is consistent there, too.

As for having your menu one resolution and your video another, there shouldn't be any problem with that.

Thanks Rob.

I've tried remaking the project with a menu background that is 768×576 (that's 704 × 1.0926) and all the button actions are still shifted over to the right.

If I use a graphic file that is actually 704 pixels wide, to match the project properties, then I expect the ratio will be incorrect when viewed on-screen.

Everything looks OK in the project properties, but the Optimize window indicates that the menu would be re-compressed. I wonder if it's worth giving that a try and see what comes out the other side?

I just had this happen on a project. I couldn't find the cause.

Nothing unusual about the menu being re-compressed. That just means that DVDA has to take your menu background image or video and combine it with any text or buttons you've added within DVDA.
