Button Icons

I have successfully used circular buttons to separate my projects into chapters but think the button icon could be improved. Currently the inactive buttons are surrounded by a rectangular mask which disappears when activated. Is this normal or can I remove the mask from all icons. Could anyone please comment.

You can do anything you want in the button and menu page properties.

Thanks. I am reasonably familiar with the properties but have some difficulty in finding the appropriate setting. Maybe I am not looking at the right site.

When you click on the menu page, the Menu Page Properties appear.
When you click the button, the Button Properties appear.
