Hi folks,
I THINK I've decided to take the plunge and buy V6...my question...after reading many posts that complain about needed fixes in 6, should I buy now..if so, the box or the download, or wait for the next build..
Assistance would be grealty appreciated

I bought the box, downloaded 6a and entered the serial number from the boxed manual, and was off and running. You get some nice extras with the box: CD with sample projects, Boris "lite", manual, sound FX sampler, keyboard shortcut stuff. Darryl
Whether or not you run into any of the more serious issues being reported on Vegas 6 depends upon your use of the software. Some of these affect functionality that many users don't currently need. If you're leaning towards purchasing, why not do it now, and started getting accustomed to it? Since it doesn't sound like you have an imminent need, you can find your way around inside so that you can hit the ground running when the update comes around.
As for the box version vs download -- a lot depends upon you want whatever printed manuals accompany the product. If you can be satisfied with PDF versions, download is fast and convenient. The disc that comes in the box is certain to be an early version that doesn't contain any fixes that will be in the update, so there's no real advantage to having it. You can burn your own copy of the download to CD, if you want a "safety" copy, but the updates are always available on the Sony site, anyway.
Personally, I bought the boxed version - mainly for the books.
Until Spot comes out with his next training set - it's great to be able to leaf thru a manual when you get lost.
As for the rest - Sony will issue updates until the problems are fixed, so either way you are covered.
I've been using 6 and it's a major improvement over anything else, in render speed alone. But I love the nested VEG files and the supersized viewing screen (if you have two screens).
Hi Guys , i bought Vegas Studio 2 months ago , and the package hasnt arrived yet!!!!!! anyways i e-mailed sony 245254 times with no response , i wish i went with the download and finished this.
My Question is does Vegas 6 produce DVD's or should i go with Vegas+DVD? sorry for the basic Question
I opted for the box for the first time in 3 upgrades. I'd recommend downloading the trial version while waiting on the box to arrive. It's only 2-3 days, usually. Meanwhile, you can get to know what it's about and what's new. There are only a few limitations with the trial version (e.g. rendering in the MPEG2 format). Come to Vegas and they will build (er...rebuild) it.
Live in the states? box or download's the same (well, except you don't get the box with download version :+P )
Outside the states you'll have to pay extra to get the stuff in your country since Vegas sends from the states and not from worldwide resellers, even if it's a Sony product.
Unless you find a reseller nearby...
"My Question is does Vegas 6 produce DVD's or should i go with Vegas+DVD? "
No - Vegas is for editing video and audio files and creating files that can be burned to DVD or CD. Vegas+DVD contains DVD-Architect, which takes the files Vegas creates and allows you to author/burn them to DVD. You could also use another DVD authoring/burning solution to create a DVD from files made by Vegas -- it doesn't have to be DVD Architect.
