Just got a 200 gig 7200 8mb cache Western digital Hard drive at Fry's Electronics. They are retailing for $350.00 but there is a $120.00 mail in rebate. Thats $230.00 for all you backwooders. Anyway thought you may wanna know. It is also available online at the Fry's Outpost site. Check it out.
How many of you guys actually get your rebate check back without having to go to war and waste valuable time on the phone---I am real disappointment with Staples, Maxtor, and a couple of other cos that owe me money----I just dont have the time to spend on the phone with these people---What about you guys.
I had one non-payment from maxtor-(said they never received my submission, I sent photocopy of "Proof of Mailing", never heard back from them, also got a proof of mailing for the resubmission), out of about 6-8, and zero probs with WD, probably about a dozen rebates.
Some info on rebate checks. OK, I admit it... I'm a pinchpenny. So I'm always sending in rebate offers. Many companies, I dare say most are now going the no envelope route. The check is a single sheet of paper, not even cardboard, and THAT's what they mail to you! Very easy to toss with junk mail or the annoying newspaper ads that now get stuffed in your mailbox. I'm caught myself twice so far almost throwing away some rebate check. Look for a LITTLE tiny piece of paper about HALF the size of most personal checks. On the good side I haven't had to go to war yet to get a rebate check, and probably got at least a few dozen just in the last year or so.
Out of a couple of dozen rebates that I've participted in, I've come to the conclusion that there is little risk with the "name" brands. For the little guys, good luck ever hearing back from them unless you follow up.
Oh, the exception to the "name brand" rule--Acer. Bought two items on different occasions, never got either rebate check, even with followup letters. Bozos.
