Camcorder DVD, Letterboxing Problem

I received a DVD from a customer which was created in a camcorder (yuk). He wants copies, but at the end of his video, the DVD goes to a cheesy "camcorder" menu. He wants that removed and replaced with his own menu.

No big deal, I thought.

But the camcorder recorded in widescreen. When I play the original disc in a DVD player to a regular TV, I get letterboxing just like I should.

While reauthoring it in DVDA, the preview mode also letterboxes just like it should. But when I compile, write to a DVD, then play it in a standard player, it won't letterbox. It stretches out to full screen.

I've tried adjusting the project and media properties, but nothing changes. I've tried using the original VOB and also recompressing (didn't work and the picture quality loss was unacceptable). I'm not willing to change settings on my test players because the original disc did what it was supposed to do and I want the reauthored version to do the same.

I have to believe there is a simple setting somewhere that I'm just missing.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.
