Camera control stopped working

Vegas can preview on an external monitor, my camera, through firewire with no problem but it can no longer control the camera when exporting to tape. The only option I have there is manual control. A week ago this worked fine. And VidCap3 still controls the camera without a problem. Any ideas on what's up with Vegas? Printing to tape from the timeline is something I use regularly.

The "Video Device" tab under Preferences shows my "OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394/DV" device with these details: "This device supports recompression; Hot pluggable device; Device connected." Yet manual control is my only print to tape option.

My temptation was to save myself some embarrassment and erase the original message now that I've discovered that my only problem was that I had the read-only tab switched on the DV tape. But since the symptoms were not what I would have expected, I thought I'd bear the shame and leave this for your education. :)
