Camera recommendations?

I'm looking to buy a DV camcorder. It should provide very good quality video and allow me to convert my existing analog tapes to DV format.

Small would be nice, but the price should remain under $1000.

How does the analog input of these cameras compare to the Sony DVMC-DA2 converter that has been recommended here?

I have a Sony DCR-TRV8 which has been flawless both in operation and in working with Video Factory 2.0. I know this model is out of date, but I would buy a Sony DV again.
