Yes, the marketing types make it seem that DDR5 is a bigger number therefore newer and your old stuff is obsolete. Truth is DDR5 does seems to make memory access on video cards slightly faster but an older premium video card with DDR3 may still be faster but cost less. Non of which has anything to do with your motherboard memory except to read and make sure there are no strange limitations on memory cards coming from your motherboard.

Shyte, I bought a notebook not too long ago with DDR2, all of a sudden, eSATA came out and now DDR5?

I bought a computer with 48KB RAM and 3-bit color graphics! Awesome :)

Then a month later they introduced a 128KB upgrade and 4-bit graphics. Dang.
