Can an AMD graphics card be used to improve rendering times in VMSv17?

I am running Movie studio Platinum 16 on an i7 PC with 16GB of ram with SSD and have been getting average rendering times,

As I am moving to 4k videos, I decided to buy an AMD RX590 graphics board to speed up rendering, but it makes little difference.

Does v17 of VMSP use the graphics card for improving rendering?

Yes.. you have to pick one of the codecs that specifies AMD when you go to render. They should say (AMD VCE).

Even my old Radeon card makes a huge difference. Went from about 8hrs to render a 90 minute 1080p/60 video down to about 90 minutes.

Many thanks. I cannot see a codec with this name, so will go looking for one.

Since fitting the graphics card, my flight sim is now incredible - just need to do the same for my rendering.

Cheers and thanks again.

_______________

W O W – I found it at last

I chose the template: MAGIX AVC/AAC mp4

Then Internet HD 1080p 50fps

Customize template

Encode mode

And there is was – AMD VCE just as you suggested.

Believe me or not, what took 15 minutes to render with the default encode mode

Now takes 15 seconds !!

My AMD RX590 is now earning it’s keep in buckets.

Many many thanks for your help
