Can burn DVD+R but not DVD-R - why?

Hello. I just started using DVD Architect and so far, I am definitely impressed. I have a DVD burner (Plextor 708A DVD+/- R/RW) and when I use DVD Architect, I can only burn DVD+Rs. I have a bunch of Verbatim DVD-Rs and DVD Architect won't even let me burn these. Any ideas?

I've already checked with Plextor to see if the Verbatim DVD-R (#94490) is compatible with their drive and the media is listed as being compatible. I'm stumped.

Thanks for any help!

I've burnt over 15 DVD-Rs with DVD-A. All of them with out error. However, I have had some problems with faulty media. I had a 10 pack of Maxell DVD-Rs that only 4 of them would burn. The other 6 would not even format. I took them back to the store to see if they could burn them, but they couldn't burn them either. The store replaced the Maxell discs with Sony discs and all was well. Go figure?

Okay, I don't know if it's the media. It may be a problem with DVD Architect because I burn the prepared DVD on a DVD-R using Nero. However, when I want to use DVD Architect, it doesn't let me burn on this media.

Ideas?
Thanks

I have the same problem with a Plextor 708A and DVD-A. +RW is fine, +R is fine, but if I try to use -R media (FujiFIlm-TY), then DVD-A doesn't even present the Plextor as a device to write to.

I can burn fine to the -R with other apps.

Same here. I have the external version of the same drive and I can burn +R successfully.

I haven't tried -R, but I have tried -RW, and it doesn't work. If I start the program with the DVD -RW in the tray, Plextor doesn't show as an option. If I start the program without the DVD in the tray and put it in right before I'm gorin to burn, everything appears to go well, but when I hit burn, I get an error message.

What sort of error message are you getting?
