Can I change the default length of generated text?

When I generate a text subtitle, the default length is 10 secs. I can change the length to say 3 secs when I specify the text, but all this does is convert a 10 sec event into a 3 sec event repeated 3 1/3 times. I then have to drag the end of the event to the first notch to get the desired length. This is a trivial problem for one subtitle but for many it is unnecessary work. Is there any way to change the default length?

Once you do have a 3 second title, you can copy it over and over easily, just changing the text as needed. No need to keep creating a new one 3 seconds long. But I can't see a way to make it the default. Might be one. Even if that title is in a separate veg (another instance of Vegas) you can copy it to the current project. So you could have various titles in a special veg at various lengths to copy into your current project.

When you see that greyed out "Sync Cursor", it's Vegas's way of saying "Timeline, what Timeline?" - Big clue!

In the past I have even attempted to make a Time-driven Preset for a Text Preset. What does Vegas do? The equiv of "Ignores User" - Not interested, still comes back as 10 seconds. Sure, I understand that this is the way Vegas was Forged, in the Fires of the Universe, and that this is bound into its very DNA - pity. Can we get GenMod of s/w? Anybody see this other clue?

PS: Apologies for the mix-metaphor of Forging and DNA - kinda defeats the visual, Forging and DNA?

Thanks for the replies. Pasting a copy of a previous subtitle from the clipboard may be the easiest way to go.

"kinda defeats the visual, Forging and DNA?"

Oh, I dunno. I rather like the image of The Great Creator with a red-hot double helix on the anvil, the red glow from the forge and an up-raised hammer. Certainly in keeping with Sound Forge.
