If you're capturing DV through firewire (1394), then keep in mind that you're not really "capturing" the video. What you're actually doing is making a bit-for-bit file copy of the information on the DV tape. Since the camera records at 720x480, this is the result you will get. it requires a processing/rendering step to change those parameters and this is something that VidCap does not do.

24fps? Are you sure? DV should either be 29.97 for NTSC or 25 for PAL. Is this a progressive scan camera?

DV will be your best starting point for making a VCD. You should start at the best resolution to retain the max quality.

Chienworks, I think the 24 is referring to 24bits.
