Can I daisy-chain using both eSata and firewire?

Sorry if it's a dumb question, never tried it, can you daisy-chain like this: external hard drive connected to laptop via eSata port, and then camera connected to external hard drive via firewire? Can Vegas capture like that?

My HP laptop has a lousy firewire port (which I've whined about to no end or avail here and here). Can't capture video with it.

Just wondering if I connected the laptop to something like a LaCie d2 Quadra hard drive via my eSata port, and connected my HV20 camera to the LaCie via firewire, would that work?

No, because your computer doesn't have a way to create a virtual FW connection over eSATA.

I would avoid LaCie for the moment. They used to be very good, currently their customer service is infamous and the quality has dropped.

FirmTek is rock solid, and there are a few others.

Too bad. Thanks for your reply, and for the FirmTek tip!
