Can I do this in Production Assistant

LarsHD wrote on 5/13/2009, 4:05 AM
I have a bunch of MOV files 1920x1080 from a Canon 5D2

I want to convert those to uncompressed AVIs

As it is right now I have to drop the clips on the time line and then create regions and then use script and batch render these regions. That is a time consuming task.

Will Production assistant allow me to point to the folder with the MOV 5D2 clips, set the conversion parameters and then point to a target folder and then walk down to the beach and come back 2 hours later and see lots of AVIs in my target folder?

Best,
Lars

yes, it will. Page 42-43 of the manual will show you how to do this.

Spot, can you elaborate on this. I want to convert a folder of AVCHD's to Cineform Intermediate AVIs. I don't see how to do this in the Guide. Pages 42-43 in my Production Assistant Users Guide deal with:
- Image Overlay
- Normalize Audio Evets
- Reduce Interlace Flicker
- Widescreen Converter

A search on "batch" didn't help either. Is there a different manual I should be referring to?

Here is one way to do it. First, Vegas 9 no longer has the Cineform codec so you have to create the template for the Cineform file you want to create. You will find the Cineform codec you installed in the Vegas 9 render custom panel. In PA go to the Source Media tab and enter the files you want to convert. Make sure Use Current Project is unchecked. Select the Processing Tab and choose process each file individually. Next select the Target output. Make sure Print to Project Time is unchecked. Enter your target folder. Create an output format for the Cineform file (see page 48 in User's Guide)and select it . Select the Process button and all the files will be converted. In Vegas 8 it is easier because the Cineform presets are there.

ECB explained it very nicely....The users guide doesn't go into specfic codecs, just batching/multiple processes.
You can create templates for any codec you'd like and they'll show up in PA.
Unchecking "Use Current Project" sort of "disconnects" Production Assistant from Vegas, allowing it to run totally independent of any existing timeline.
