Can I do this with a script?

I am making a slideshow in Vegas and I want to display the filename (among other things not relevant here) of each photo. The photos are on track 3 and a blank generated text event (to take the filename) is immediately above each photo on track 2. What I am doing is:

Select next photo - (on track 3)
Right-click
Select "Properties" - (properties window appears with filename highlighted)
Ctrl-C - (to copy filename)
click "OK" - (to close window)
Select the event above the photo - (on track 2)
Right-click
Select "Edit Generated Media"
Ctrl-V - (to paste into event)
close window
repeat the above several hundred more times until finished.

If I can't make a script to do all of the above, could I setup a key or keys to do at least some of it to spead up the process (and I don't have to think!)?

Edit
I should point out that I have not written a script for Vegas before and so don't know what is and is not possible. When I say "Can I" I really mean "Is it possible".

If you are looking for a working solution, take a look at Text Generation Wizard from Vegasaur. This is exactly what you want (and much more).Just select the desired text preset and choose At Events option.

Best regards

Thanks. I'll have a look at it.

Excellent! Works perfectly. Entering the filename is now the easiest bit.

Now why didn't I ask earlier :) ?

There are some extra goodies in Vegasaur that look useful too.
