Yes and there are threads on this. From memory it's a bit of fiddling around.

Personally I do not recommend doing so. Over time your saved settings and preferences may get unseen corruptions. That's why a "factory reset" is recommended as a first step when solving problems. If you are installing on a new pc best to start with fresh settings albeit a bit of a pain. I keep a list of my preferences, changed settings etc which makes it easier.

Ah, okay. Thank you very much; I would not have considered this. I am definitely just going to start with fresh settings instead.
