Can I get this effect in Vegas?

Here is an example of a project I made in 3-D Album. What I want is the fading effect that this program has, but I would rather do it in Vegas if possible. It has 4 pictures fading into eachother at the same time an it is almost like there is an alpha channel used in the middle of the picture which makes the next picture viewable. How can I do thisin Vegas?
It is a pretty big zip file and the zip opens up into an exe file, so if you have a slow connection, you might want to skip this one.

Bump.

I know it's a big file, I can try to make a smaller example if that would help. I would encode it to video from the program but it loses the effect and I haven't figured out why.

How about a couple of still frame captures instead? I think a lot of folks aren't willing to install a .exe file to see your effect.

Sure, once I get home, I will do some captures and post those. I will also cut down the exe file to make it smaller. 3-d picture album makes some nice effects, it is just that the interface and usability is horrible!

It doesn't work... I am trying to fix it now.

Okay, I converted it to a web page that I tacked on to my site. Maybe it will be less risky for you guys and load faster. It does ask for an active-x control if you are using internet explorer. Let me know if this effect is possible; I can still post some stills but I think this gives a more accurate portrayal of what I am trying to accomplish.

Vegas cannot do this without a plug-in. These look like luminance transitions based on a grayscale mask. I recommend Pixelan SpiceMASTER for this sort of work. Pixelan can do far more than this so you might actually like its additional capabilities as well. The TFX version is only $59 and well worth the money (it comes free with Vegas Movie Studio Platinum). I have the PRO version and it’s awesome. What you would do is keyframe the transition to pause with the outer edges still on the previous picture so both show through at the same time. Then repeat for all other photos. You’ll need to also add some transparency and use multiple tracks if you want 4 photos to fade at once.

You could try and simulate this in Vegas by using an Iris transition with a feathered edge and then add a Transition Envelope to hold the transition for a while, but it will not be the dissolve you are looking for. Pixelan will do this much better.

There's a free luminance transition here:

Thanks for the help. I still can't get the web version up and running and the user forum is stagnant there. Well, I will give the luminance effect a try and see if that is an easy way to do what this program automates (but is useless if I can't export it to video and it work!) Thanks again!

Hey, in case any of you wanted to see what I was referring to concerning the effect here is the
link.
I finally got it up and running (the server didn't support the necessary files. As far as I know, it only works with IE, firefox goes to download a missing plugin but the button does not work to download the file on the plugins website, go figure.

One more point, when I first went to watch it, it did not display right (only showed one picture at a time and then would pause before going to the next) I let it do this for about a minute or so then I refreshed the browswer and it worked fine after that. If any of you do go and look at it, let me know if it does this to you.
thanks,
