Check your EULA (End User Licensing Agreement) to be certain, but I think the general policy is that you can install the product on more than one computer provided that it is only used on one computer at a time.

If you install it on your laptop and still have it on your desktop, but Vegas is never running on both at the same them, then everything's cool. Lots and lots of people do this.
