Is DVD Architect available as a standalone product separate from Vegas Video?
I'm a registered user of VideoFactory 2.0c and I'm very pleased with the VF software considering its stability, usability, features and price point. The add-on MPEG2 encoder (template version) is also solid. I use VF to edit my family home videos but I'm frustrated by the current slate of low-end DVD authoring software (Sonic MyDVD, Roxio DVD Builder, Pinnacle Expression). I downloaded the DVD Architect demo and I'm fairly satisified with its features.
My requirements that appear to be met by the DVD Architect 1.0 software:
1) Chapter points must be user definable (not possible with the software packages listed above).
2) Create multiple video objects (movies) per DVD with separate chapters in each (not possible with the software packages listed above).
3) Create either 4:3 or 16:9 DVDs.
4) Import DV .avi or MPEG2 program streams.
5) Don't re-encode MPEG2 program streams
Other wish-list features that may or may not be met with DVD Architect 1.0:
1) Standalone product.
2) Price point less than $100 dollars (you could remove the AC3 encoder from a "home edition" as this shouldn't be needed for home videos).
3) Import marker points from VF project file.
4) Import MPEG2 elementary video streams.
I believe that the home video/DVD authoring market space will grow rapidly over the coming months. I would like to see Sonic Foundry compete in this space, because it's obvious to me (I'm a software test engineer by trade) that your other software products are solidly built.
