Yes you can, but B&H photo is selling the full version of Vegas 6 for $99. I bought the same thing about 6 weeks ago for $149 which was still a good deal. Be advised that Vegas 7.0 is due out in the next few weeks. In the past, Sony policy has been to give you a free upgrade if you've purchased the previous within 30 days. If so, then $99 would also get you version 7, which would be fantastic. Here is the URL. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=search&Q=&b=80&mnp=0.0&mxp=0.0&shs=vegas&ci=1&ac=&Submit.x=16&Submit.y=10&Submit=Go
I posted this in the Vegas Video forums as well - I would check direct with Sony about the B&H deal because the free upgrade to Vegas 7 + DVD is for those who have purchased Vegas 6+DVD after August 10. The B&H $99 deal is only for Vegas 6. And from what I am hearing Vegas 7 will only be sold with DVD now. Also I think MovieStudio 7 only comes with DVDA now as well, although I am not sure if it is the same version as comes with Vegas, it only says that it comes with DVDA.
So far, SONY has demonstrated that a license is a license, as long as you've legally obtained it. They don't seem to care whether you've paid the full $679 retail price or $45 in a bargain bin, you've still got a license. And, once you've got a licence, they offer the same upgrade path no matter how you got it.*
The only restriction i've ever seen so far is that if you get a license from another user who is discarding it because they've upgraded to a newer version, you cannot use that license yourself to upgrade. Each license gets only one upgrade discount. On the other hand, presumably you got a pretty steep discount on that license from the other user.
*I am not a SONY spokesperson, so don't take my statements as official. Their policies could also change at any time and without notice, so don't complain to their customer support department if they don't do what i said here! ;)
I also upgraded to vegas 6. What am I not going to get
that's in the vegas plus dvd? ac3 only or other things also.
Waiting impatiently for it to arrive.......
Much of the bonus software is also downlaodable from the Sony site. However if you have only purchased Vegas and NOT Vegas+DVD you will not have DVDA, and if you download it you will not ger a free SN for it. Also I don't think you will have any AC3 encoding as that only comes with DVDA now.
As for Boris - if it is included it would be on the CD that you get and there should be a SN for it as well. if it is not included on the CD you can check with Sony about downloading it and getting a SN.
Thanks for your reply. I have movie studio platinum with the dvd architect studio but
found several features that will really help me out editing. The ac3 from the looks of it isn't included. Thanks again
