Agreed, and there's been several threads on this issue (do a search if you'd like to see more). SOFO is quite aware of the this request but you may wish to formally do so yourself. Every bit helps. . .

Even if Vegas did support MIDI CC automation, you couldn't use the 02R in this way because it doesn't transmit CC info (only recieves it).

ibliss,
Are you sure about that? I have a Yamaha 03D and it says in the manual that I can use the "Remote function" to control faders within Protools through Midi CC. Maybe I misunderstood it, but from my understanding is that it sends and receives Midi CC. I haven't been able to try it out since I use Vegas, but was hoping one day Vegas would support that, so I could indeed control faders within Vegas using my 03D.

Here's a direct quote from my 03D manual, I imagine the 02R has the same functionality.

"The midi remote function allows you to control other midi equipment using the 03D.
Connection can be made using the midi IN/OUT. Remote equipment can be controled using the 03D faders,ON buttons, cursor buttons, and parameter wheel."

Then it goes on to say that I can control Protools. So to me it sounds a lot like I can indeed send midi messages to use my 03D to control external midi faders.

Hmm, actually I think you're right - the manual does say that the GM Remote page lets you assign CCs to the various 'hands-on' controls of the 02R, so you could set that up for Vegas control (if and when). On the Pro-Tools preset it also uses the cursor keys for remote transprt functions.

It doesn't specify the CC data being sent from things like the 03D and ProMix01 presets, but I guess looking at the manual for those desks to find out the CC no.s used for various faders etc would tell you.

I think it's a bit odd that the desks don't have a setting in the MIDI pages to turn CC send on/off when the desk is in normal mode.

I'll have to play around with the 02R at work and see what it is spitting out the MIDI port...

From my understanding that's kind of what it does when you push the "Remote" button. When the "Remote" is enabled the desk (ie faders etc.) becomes a remote control fader device. I think of it as the "third" Layer of the faders, you are probably already familiar with the Layer1 and Layer2. When you switch to the "Remote/Layer3" and adjust the faders it doesn't affect the audio signal adjustments on Layer1 or Layer2. When you turn the "remote" off it doesn't send midi commands when adjusting Layer1 or Layer2.
