Dell XPS (latest generation) laptop. maxed out - prolly unbeatable, but there is the Ferarri 4000 by Acer (believe it or not Acer made a decent laptop :)
Main thing that I liked best? - the PCI Express slot. There were some issues with it. BUT, like I said, XPS FULLY LOADED, Prolly Unbeatable, unless you could get an AMD 64X2 in there :)
On the XPS ??? - Or the sager? - I don't think the XPS can get an X2 - if it can - then HECK YEA!!! - otherwise, I might go with the sager. At least if you can get a lot of custimzation with it.
just tested VV on a AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400 tower and it screamed. With "Best" selected- i was running ligtrays filter + blurs + tons of vid and audio traks with massive waves plugs and still was able to jump to PS and run blurs on a huge graphic.....if the laptop could do that id be in heaven.
It's served me well for a solid year plus (short of a sound card issue).
Anyway - the next Comp I buy will probably be a desktop. I will then have this for lazy editing, and easy editing. Or for doing my work on and then taking over to the work horse to render. Who knows - just depends on how I find my best workflow.
Right now - my workflow can't be beat :) - i've got the TV on and I sit on the couch and create, create, create. I've highly enjoyed my laptop editing and the freedom it provides, but the power of a super desktop at the same price I may soon need.
