There are several interesting ramifications coming from Sony as they are preparing custom software supporting Sony camera workflows - with Catalyst...this will use a new standard of Lut management. Some indications that this is only going to work outside of the Vegas app.

Prior to this the only software app that I know of working inside of VegasPro was with Cineform Pro. Good app but considerable investment and learning curve.

Theoretically you can apply certain kind of LUTs in Vegas Pro. You would need to copy the LUT into the folder "luts" within the path of the program folder "Vegas Pro 13.0\OpenColorIO\configs\aces\". But you would also have to modify the file "config_1_0_3.ocio", which needs a deeper understanding of ocio configurations.

Or you need to find a ready-to-use OCIO configuration which works in Vegas Pro – some do (like the one found in Blender or Nuke), many don't. If such an OCIO configuration contains the LUT desired – you won. Then you just need to replace the given Vegas Pro aces folder.

For the two cases mentioned above you then could select the LUT for project property, media or render property if the project's pixel format is set to full level float point processing.

Another way of using LUTs in Vegas Pro is the use of Red Giant's current version of Magic Bullet Looks. Looks allows to import LUTs in the cube file type.

And yes, you also can apply LUTs by Catalyst Prepare, but only outside of Vegas Pro.
