There's probably very few community members shooting 1080p at 120 fps so don't have material to try. Post a short clip somewhere that we can download and try.

I don't have the camera just yet. Thought in settings it would be easy to check, no? This is 4K by the way.

Are you asking about 4k or 1080p?

EricLNZ wrote on 2/22/2018, 1:11 AM

Are you sure the camera can record 4Kp at 120 fps?

jimlau wrote on 2/22/2018, 7:51 AM

It's 4k at 30fps, 1080p at 120fps

jimlau wrote on 2/22/2018, 9:20 AM

can MS 13 handle 1080p / 120 fps?

No problem with me at VMS 13 build 987

Also no problem with Sony VMS 12.
VMS 10 goes to 1080p/100fps

I have MS12 Platinum and see no option for 120fps. Perhaps it does it automatically when the input video is seen at 120fps?

In the project properties you should be able to manually type in "120" as frame rate.

i see; it's a drop-down menu so thought you could only choose 1 in the list; looks like 4K is no do-able with MS 12 Platinum? I entered the higher resolution but it won't accept it.

Do you use Movie Studio or Movie Studio Platinum?

jimlau wrote on 2/22/2018, 10:36 AM

I currently have MS 12 Platinum. Was looking at getting MS 13 for 4K.

Shooting in 120p ist normally for slow motion. You record in 120p and play it with 30p.

jimlau wrote on 2/24/2018, 2:30 PM

how about 720p at 240fps? still works in MS 13?

jimlau wrote on 2/24/2018, 3:04 PM

Not with me, it goes to 120fps

what version(s) of MS do u have?

The same issue, 720p240 is a slow motion recording which will also be played with 30fps. I can import those recordings in VMS14. Those slomos are always meant to be played with 30fps and not with their recorded 120 or 240 fps.

I agree on the 240 fps. You create a project with the setting of 30fps? As for 120fps, is that not noticeably different at native speed from 30fps? 60fps?

3POINT wrote on 2/24/2018, 5:04 PM

The Slomos I record with my actioncam (100 or 200 fps PAL) are automatically imported with 25fps into VMS14. I expect then same behavior with 120 or 240 fps NTSC but than with 30fps.
