Can not drag mov to timeline

I have the entire quicktim 6.5.1 installed (I think) and I get this dialog when I attempt to drag a mov file to the tl. Sony Quicktime plugin was not able to initalize the Quicktime components on your system. What does thus mean? Fixable?

try installing qt again with authoring components

i'm having the same problem. i've got to do a soundtrack to a quicktime 6.5 .mov file and vegas 4 won't open it. i've installed the quicktime 6.5 installer with every option they've got (yes including authoring components) do i need to tell vegas to look for these components somewhere specifically? i noticed in vegas' plugin folder theres a qt5plug.dll or something but no qt6..

deadline imminent..blah blah...pls help!

I have quicktime player 6.4 (only) installed and just dragged 2 .mov files with audio to the timeline no problem and they played.
only qt5plug.dll in folder.
