Can not install vagas 9 platinum

When I click to install 9 Platinum I get a window saying(the following components are required by this software/microsoft visual c++2005 redistributable/click to install required components).
When I click to install I get another message(the feature you are trying to use is on a resource that is unavalable/click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "vcredist.msi" in the box below).
When I press OK yet another message apears (The path 'c:\program files vcredist.msi' cannot be found. try to find the installation package 'vcredist.msi' in a folder from whitch you can install 'microsoft visual c++ 2005 redistributable'.
When I press OK I get (error 1714. the older version of 'microsoft visual c++ 2005 redistributible' cannot be removed. contact your technical support group.
I am at a loss, can enyone help me?

XP or Vista? Make sure you have all Windows updates installed.
You are working in a 'legal' environment with licences, yes?

I am using windows xp pro.
Yes I am working in a "Legal Invironment"
I tried to install v v 9 platinmum by downloading from the internet, but still I get the same errors. Today I downloaded and installed Microsoft visual c++2005 redistributible. The installation wizard can't seem to find it. When I show path to it, it doesn't reconize it. I copied all the error messages but cannot put it in this message.
