. . er . . . yeah? Do you mean specifically with the JVC HR-DVS3U? Then the answer is that I have neither used one nor in connection with V4.

Er . .what's the actual question here? - Sorry I'm being dense . . ..

Grazie

When printing to tapemy JVC recognizes the command, because it automatically start recording. However, it records blanks , nothing, nada. no osund no image but 20 minutes of blue screen

Yes I have -

First and most important here:

For outputting via firewire from VV make sure you have "F-1" selected as the input on your JVC. This is the single most "not done" step that I have seen many people not do.

A few other items - if you are going from PC > DV > VHS you need to push the "DV ==>" button on 'dub'. And again, make sure that "F-1" is selected. This allows for the signal to pass through to the VHS side and you can record both Mini-DV and SVHS/VHS at the same time. note there is not deck control for the VHS side.

I have done all of the above already, and I have been successfuly sendding signal to the unit. No image nor sound is recorded. do you thing I have screwed up the settings? Frame rates, bits, stuff like dat?

>>>and I have been successfuly sendding signal to the unit<<<

THis may sound stupid but - do you mean you are actually getting a signal at the deck end? In other words are you looking at a signal coming out of the JVC or out of your PC? if you are seeing an image and hearing audio coming out of your JVC than it is a problem with your record function and I would call JVC ASAP. Overall if you are getting clear picture and sound *into* the deck than it is not a PTT issue on the VV side or a firewire issue.

To be sure do this - dub something from Mini-DV to VHS and play it back - does it work? Now dub somthing from VHS to Mini-DV and play it back..does it work? If so than the record functions do work. Than we are back to the firwire input, or not having "F-1". You are saying you have been sending a signal to the deck but that is not the same as actually getting a signal on the deck, that is why I ask are you looking at the output of the deck or of the PC - because if the signal is indeed coming into your JVC than it should record fine, provided you just did the other tests and saw no issues.

And one final question - is the blue screen you speak of the VCR blue screen? The normal "no signal" blue screen? If so that part is normal - at first. When you do a PTT if you are looking at you rmonitor hooked up to the video outs of the JVC you will see a blue screen. When the PTT counter pops up the firewire is kicked on, so to speak, and your screen should turn black. If it does not do this than you are not sending any signal to the deck.

read the knowledge base tips on the SF site under support, lots of useful things to check. Make sure you have the latest Bios for your system installed, this cleaned up a lot of issues with PTT for me.
