Can someone tell me how I did this and/or how to avoid doing it again?!

Good morning everyone,
I was just slip editing some tracks and found there was another copy underneath. When I deleted the top one there was still yet another underneath it . I would think, with all of these copies, it would take much longer to render; any ideas of what I could have done or how to avoid doing it again?

My guess would be that you accidentally did a CTRL-Drag. When you hold the CTRL key down and you drag, it creates a COPY of the clip.

I don't think it would take any longer to render, since only the top one is the active take. I end up with multiple layers on video tracks all the time, if I lay in a different shot without deleting the earlier one.

Thanks guys, if it doesn't take any longer to render (or have any other adverse affects) then I'm not concerned. I don't intentionally ctrl/drag but maybe I did.

I sometimes find unexpected tracks overlays after I've been previewing a clip in the explorer. If you hit enter, it loads the clip onto a track above. I'm so used to hitting enter to stop a track from playing that I accidently do it when I'm previewing a rendered clip on the hard drive.

Hi Randy,

I think this happens regularly, which is how some folks might find tiny snippets after trimming and rippling.

The underlying media won't likely render, but may confuse life more than needed. Prior to finishing up, you might switch each track to "A/B view" to see if any orphans are lying about.
