Can't access offline MXF media file

zalan wrote on 5/31/2015, 1:54 PM
I was doing an edit using MXF camera files from F55 camera. Shot in 4k and dups in 2k. Did my offline in 2k and used some 2k only 60fps slow mo. I had a bug in windows which meant I had to reinstall the Vegas software. Now back in the project time line those 2k 60fps media are off line and I can't access it in explorer window. Those files ar all whited out in Media bin as if it's a non compatiable. I checked on sony browser and the files are defientwly there and play fine. Just can't put the files back into my time line. Thought it something to do with preferences or settings. But I didn't change anything since the reinstall. Anyone have any clues. Hope someone can help . Thanks. Alan.

Sorry. You'll have to clarify in more than one word? Not sure what this means?

Thanks. Alan

i think he's implying you should go out and buy catalyst edit.

frankly i think that's poor advice if you already own vegas. this is something vegas should be able to do - especially if it did it previously.

no image you can reinstall?

Exactly. Everything was working just fine. Could it be something to do with settings or preferences that goes to some default if you had to reinstall the software?

No joy from sony either with the help.

Norm Chan, could you explain the relevance of your post vis-a-vis this thread?

videoITguy, on rare occasions, when an app crash, windows will lock all the files that the app was using as if the app is till running (marked as in use). When that happens, no other app will be able to access those files, unless the app bypasses the windows files system all together. The web page I linked to provide instructions on how to get those files unlocked. I thought that might be what what the OP was experiencing.

I had that happen to me once a long time ago. I have forgotten how I got out of that situation; I might have copied the files (if at all possible), and changed the reference.

That sounds a possibilty. Will look into that. Don't know why nobody else has had this problem. Thnx
