Çan't adjust the volume knob in Music Cleaning and in the Windows souns settings for recordings on my laptop, so the sound is terrible, too loud ans distorted.
Are you referring to Music Cleaning Lab? If so, this is a MAGIX product associated with MAGIX Sound Forge - and its forum is at https://www.magix.info/us/audio-forum/
In general, and with Vegas, Sound Forge and other Magix products, the record level is adjusted at the source, preamp or with the soundcard/converter interface and not in the software itself, However there usually is a record level meter to view, but it is usually 'hidden', for instance in Sound Forge, it is in 'View> Record Options'. I am not very familiar with Cleaning Lab. So go to the pertinent forum as @Dexcon stated or read the manual
