Can't capture and can't print to tape

I am using Vegas3.0c with a Pinnacle Firewire card and a Panasonic DV (in and out) camcorder.

When I tried to capture from Vegas, I would get one frame and then capture would stop (probably should have heard the alarm bells ringing then and there). I needed to get this project finished so I bought Sceneanalyser and was able to capture flawlessly.

Next I had a lot of fun editing in Vegas - a real joy to use after some other products I have struggled with!

Then came the 'Print to Tape' step. I could get the colour bars, one frame of my video and then nothing (the camcorder continued in record mode, but all I got was black)!

So, in desperation, I rendered my project as an AVI, opened the AVI within Pinnacle Studio7 and from there was able to easily print out to DV tape.

Given that I can both capture and print from other applications I suspect that I must have some simple, fundamental (and probably blindingly obvious) setting in Vegas wrong.

Any suggestions?

Is the Pinnacle card fully OHCI compliant? It sounds like it probably is not.

Hm - that was my first thought, but surely that would mean that Sceneanalyser wouldn't work either.

Also, I did a search and found a post from a user (http://www.sonicfoundry.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=146597&Page=0)who is successfully using the Pinnacle card that came with Studio 7 which is exactly my situation, so again, this doesn't seem to be the root of the problem.

Hm - looks like I'll be spending the weekend trying to solve this problem by myself!

Is there more information I should be giving to enable someone to help? The Pinnacle board has a 'User profile' section that shows PC configuration (it also enables links to URLS to be embedded in posts).

Just in case, here is my hardware:

Motherboard-Epox EP-8K3A+
O/S-WinXP Pro
CPU-Athlon XP
RAM-896Mb
HD-40G master, 80G slave
Other drives-Pioneer DVD, Pioneer A05 DVD RW
Graphics card-ATI Rage 128 pro
Sound Card-SB Live Value 5.1
Firewire card-Pinnacle

And here are the specs for the Pinnacle firewire card:

Plug and Play 32 bit PCI board with bus mastering interface
Three 400 Mbps IEEE 1394 ports (2 external 1 internal)
Video Capture and Output :
Frame Rate : 25/30 frames per second - 50/60 fields per second (PAL/NTSC)
Frame Size : 720 x 576 (PAL) / 720 x 480 (NTSC)
Compression : DV
