Can't capture HDV from Canon HV30...

What am I doing wrong? I have Vegas 8, 8.1 and 9 on my main PC and my laptop. I have XP Pro on the PC and Vista on the laptop. They both have the same issue. I can capture SD video fine from Vegas, but when I try Vegas's HD capture it doesn't see my Canon HV30 camera at all. I can capture HD with HDVSplit. but I'd really like to use Vegas for everything.

I know you want to use Vegas for everything but, if HDVSplit works for you, then keep on using it.
A lot of folks here and on other Vegas forums won't use the Sony capture app because they like HDVSplit much better.

I have an HV30 too. I ran into this problem myself and figured it out, it is one of these 2 things (don't remember exactly right now).

If you recorded SD on the tape, you can only capture as SD and you (cineform hdlink or vegas) won't see the camera if you're trying to capture HDV. I don't know about the reverse, ie trying to capture SD what is HDV on the tape.

The record setup makes a difference in capture (why? don't ask me). So if you want to capture HDV make sure the camera is set to record HDV before trying to capture HDV.
