Does the PC see the camera? Can you try a different firewire port or card? What's the camera?

Are you sure the Firewire card is correctly installed ?

Do you have anything else you can plug in to check ?

Does anything happen on your taskbar when you attach the camera ?

Does the camera show up in Control Panel | Scanners And Cameras ?

If not, then it could be that the firewire chipset in the Syba card doesn't like your cam.

OK, I've been troubleshooting. I got the computer to see the card, but only after restarting. It recognizes the 1394 device. To do that, I need to restart the computer, then I open a shortcut to Add Hardware. It finds the 1394 device, then recognizes the camera. I begin to capture and it will capture for a couple seconds and stop. This is true in Vegas and Windows Movie Maker. This is the same card that was in my last computer that was running Vista, I'm running XP now.

If you're doing everything else right try a new firewire card.
