Search the Vegas Knowledge Base first. I seem to recall a list of units identified as compatible.
Plug and play can be tricky. There are those of us who must first hook up firewire, power up camcorder, and then power up PC. Only the great IS tech in the sky knows why. Grob
Have you ever been able to capture from this camcorder? eg I used to use Pinnacle Studio7 and this was 100% reliable (when it came to capturing video), I can also capture from Scenanalyzer, but as yet not from Vegas 3 (see my post under 'Can't Capture and Can't Print to Tape')
I won't blame Pinnacle without knowing more about this particular problem, but just about every "I can't capture in Vegas" report mentions that Pinnacle-something has been installed. Pinnacle apps have been known to blow away the Windows DV driver (which Vegas, and Adovbe, and AVID, and Ulead all rely on) so a driver problem caused by the installation of "another video app" is likely the problem, and I'd look there first.
Please read this knowledge base entry for detail on system config for DV:
