Can't Delete

AM a new user - trying to run thru the tutorial for Vegas 3.0 LE. I get to page 41, try to delete the time line selection - either nothing happens, ot I can delete the entire wave file. How do I make it delete the selected part?

Uh ? What do you mean exactly ? If you want to delete a whole wave-event
just select it and press Delete .If you only want to delete a selection of this event ,select the event by clicking on it , select the portion of that event bij dragging at the timeline and press Delete .Is that what you meant ?

You have to click and drag above the timeline, not on it like CakeWalk/Sonar.
