What does the error message say, and where is it? In your browser window? In a dialog box? On the television?

I go to
http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/download/step1.asp?CatID=2

click on say, DVD-A 2.0a, I get a download page that asks to fill in info:

"Before you begin your download, please fill out the information below. This will allow us to notify you of future products, updates, and special offers.

Fields with an asterisk (*) must be filled in."

Note: I do not have my cookies disabled.

I fill it in and get:

http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/download/step3.asp?URLID=2154&SerialNum=&EntryPoint=

which says: "The page you are trying to reach has generated an error. Please check that you have not tried to access a partial or erroneous URL.:

Curious. I tried Firefox, Netscape, and IE (desperate measure, I know). Got the same results as you each time.

Guess there's a problem with Sony's site.

There's a user over on the Acid forum who says he can't register. It must all be connected somehow.

I was able to get updates a few days ago and when I tried again today I got the same message that you did.

I just downloaded the DVD update. It must have been a problem with the Sony site.

Trying to download updates via Netscape put me in a loop of being promted to supply my details, then being returned to where I started from . Cookies were fully enabled.

However, downloads worked without problems via the latest incarnation of IE. So there must be bugs in Sony's current download setup.
