Can't edit multicam on external monitor

I have been able to set up an external monitor for my laptop successfully in "extend" mode (actually using my HD TV) with Vegas 12. When doing multicam editing, I can view the different camera angles on the external monitor just fine, including the mouse cursor which I can move around as normal. However if I try to edit and select a camera shot by clicking on the shot I want, the take is not selected (no blue rectangle) and I get the message to click ESC to get out of full screen mode.

Is there something I have to select in settings or preferences?

If you use the second monitor as "preview device" then you cant edit on it, just preview. If you move the preview window on the second monitor, then you can do what you want to do. I do a lot of mutlicam editing and find it easier to press the shot number on the keyboard rather then clicking on the screen.

No. Once you've extended your desktop, simply drag the preview window to the 2nd monitor. If you want to edit, do NOT use the monitor as a preview device, which sounds like what you've done. The blue boxes should then appear and you can edit as normal.

Good tip. Wish I'd known that for our recent Christmas project. That would definitely be easier.
