can't exit expanded edit mode

Pressing numeric key 5 just toggles between expanded edit view & back to A/B view . The same when choosing from menu "edit - "select" enter/exit expanded mode. I can't get rid of the A/B view.
I want to lose this A/B mode and go back to normal track view mode. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Charles

Have you tried right-mouse-button clicking in the track header and unchecking "expand track layers"?
